The Bareboat Skipper course for those who want to become a captain of a sailing yacht and get an international certificate to rent a yacht for a holiday with family or friends, with complete freedom of movement on the sea.
Entry Standard & Certificate Limitations
- Candidates must hold a VHF Certificate or complete the IYT VHF/SRC course with this course together.
- The Candidate should be 16 years of age or over
- The candidate must have logged over 200 nautical miles & 10 days at sea by end of course
- Command of a vessel up to a maximum length of 78 ft /24 meters
- In coastal waters up to 20 miles offshore
- In daylight hours and in fair conditions with moderate wind and sea conditions
To be issued after successful completion of all the modules of Bareboat Skipper course have been completed.
It is the level of competence required when chartering a boat in the Mediterranean or West Indies where there are restrictions in terms of cruising area and distance from the base and the vessel has to be safely moored in a marina or anchored before dark.
For students with certificate International Crew – 5 to 6 days.
For students without certificate International Crew -10 to 12 days

The course duration be a minimum of 40 hours of theory and practical training, but this time frame may be reduced for those who have recognized prior learning or boating/sea time experience
The objective of the course is for the student to develop the knowledge and skill sets to competently operate as a member of a crew and to understand the basic theory and practical application of nautical terminology.

Candidate/Instructor Ratio: 5 to 1 for the on board practical. 16:1 when teaching shore based theory modules.

Theory and Practice to Issue BAREBOAD SKIPPER CERTIFICATE
Price per person: DBL – €750 (surcharge for July 28 – €50), SGL – €1200.
Additional payment: certificates – €150, food, fuel, 30 euro – boat insurance, 150 euro – refundable deposit
