The Yachtmaster Offshore IYT is a Certificate of Competency for operating Recreational Pleasure Yachts.
Standard for the Certificate Yachtmaster Offshore IYT
The program Yaxhtmaster Offshore IYT is not for beginners!
The Candidate should be 18 years of age or over.
Certificate`s Yachtmaster Offshore IYT holder has the right to command of a vessel up to a maximum 24 meters, up to 150 nautical miles from the coast, day or night, any weather.
11 days comprehensive high-level course:
6 days comprehensive high-level shore-based module with a number of assessment papers and written examinations incorporating subjects including navigation, tidal calculations, COLREG, meteorology, buoyage, safety, passage planning, general ship knowledge and seamanship.
5 days offshore practical course – seamanship skills such as boat handling, docking, navigation and passage planning.
The requirements are:
– 3000 nautical miles
– 50 days on board at sea (a day = 24 hours)
– 30 hours on watch at night underway.
– certificate Radiooperator VHF
The course duration be a minimum of 40 hours of theory and practical training, but this time frame may be reduced for those who have recognized prior learning or boating/sea time experience.
